Liver diseases require rapid diagnosis, along with intensive treatment, fast response and care for frequently developed complications. The Department of Hepatology in Internal Medicine of CHA Bundang Medical Center provides expert medical services in prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and management for patients with conditions such as hepatitis, fatty liver, alcoholic liver disease, hepatocirrhosis and liver cancer. To this end, the team, equipped with the state-of-the-art diagnostic tools including ultrasonography and fibroscan, is dedicated to ensuring the best possible care under the patient-oriented medical environment.

Patient-Oriented Tailored Treatment

The Department of Hepatology has the Liver Cancer Center that provides patient-oriented specialized treatment focusing on frequent liver diseases ranging from chronic liver disease, fatty liver to liver cancer with the aim of tailored treatment for individual patients. Specialists from various clinical fields such as hepatology, surgery, transplantation surgery, radiology, radiation oncology, pathology and internal medicine oncology closely work together in a systematic manner to ensure accurate diagnosis and provide the most suitable treatment for individual patients.

Especially for liver cancer that requires multi-dimensional treatment approaches, a variety of clinical departments participate in the multidisciplinary treatment for patients to maximize treatment results, which increases patient satisfaction.

Active Academic Research Activities

Faculty members in the Department have received academic awards many times, based on their continuous researches for patients with liver diseases and the latest insights, and continue to publish research papers in Korean and international medical journals. The team also carries out multi-national and multi-institute clinical researches on chronic hepatitis and liver cancer treatment in an effort to provide the state-of-the-art care for patients. Moving further, it conducts a variety of basic-translational researches with the goal of actual clinical application to expand the scope of strategies for liver disease treatment.
