Certified Endoscopy Room

The staff performs advanced endoscopic procedure, which is essential to diagnose gastrointestinal disease. The Center was recognized for the high quality gastrointestinal endoscopic procedure and safe treatment with the endoscopy room certified by the Korean Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Research Foundation▪Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as the excellent endoscopy room.

‘Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection’ without Surgery

In case of early stage gastrointestinal cancer, Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) is performed to separate and remove only lesion instead of laparotomy General anesthesia and incision of gastrointestinal tract are not needed, helping patients have a better quality of life. Though endoscopy doesn’t entail major operation, it is still a surgical procedure that needs to be precisely performed by highly skilled personnel to prevent any complication. The endoscopy room is equipped with the latest endoscopic system including electrocautery with endocut and CO2 endoscopy and our qualified endoscopist always strive to provide the best treatment.

High-Quality Interventional Treatment and Stent Insertion

Laparoscopic surgery is carried out for the advanced cancer with the application of endoscopy for cancer lesion and early cancer. The interventional therapy and stent insertion technique performed for the patients who are not suitable for surgery are among the best in the nation, increasing the quality and satisfaction of life of the patients who can get back to normal life sooner, thanks to reduce hospital stay and recovery period.

The State-of-the-Art Microscope and Endoscope for Diagnosis of Cancer Cells

The Endoscopy Center of CBMC introduced the highly sophisticated Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy (CLE) that magnifies the tissue and cellular structures approximately 1000 times. CLE allows direct diagnosis of suspicious lesion during endoscopy and clear identification of the borderline resection is possible during ESD or Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR). After monitoring whole lesion with CLE, biopsy is done on the most suspicious area, which enhances biopsy accuracy. It can also be safely performed instead of biopsy on the patients with liver cirrhosis or who are at high risk of bleeding because of antiplatelet agent or anticoagulant.

Once diagnosis is made, the medical staff of the Center considers various treatment options including laparoscopic surgery, chemotherapy and endoscopic treatment, and identifies the most suitable therapy to each patient within one week with the aim of offering the best treatment.
